I’ve had this funky rear brake thing going on for years on my Safari where they sort of stick on one side and are a bit reluctant to release. This is in spite of replacement spring kits, wheel cylinders and so on. Now it’s gotten a bit more pronounced.

I’ve found a rear disc brake conversion kit from some extremely helpful folks at a place called !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , out of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. I’ve watched many disc brake upgrades being applied on Motor Trend On Demand, and now it’s my turn. Dude understood exactly what I had for a rear axle, had me check a couple of measurements, and we’re off to the races.

This is the kit I’ll use, including parking brake, but skip the drilled/slotted rotors (fully compatible with stock master cylinder and metering block) :

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

But check out this most excellent instruction sheet:

Fun stuff!

Those seem like excellent instructions.

I’m tempted to do the same for my son’s 03 civic, but I haven’t committed yet. There’s a couple of videos, but nothing like the detailed instructions you have! Nice find

Is it the brake hanging up or is it the cable hanging up in the sleeve? I had thought that it was the cable and not the brake that was the problem.....

I really dislike changing rear brake shoes and I will not miss that.

I just need to order the kit. But $500...

The helpful guy says most people make the installation in about two hours. I’m always very slow and methodical and thorough, so I’ll not be in a rush.
